本研究探討協作型群眾外包情境下,知識搜尋強度對創意品質的非線性影響。基於認知負荷理論,我們透過準實驗設計,邀請研究生組成團隊,分別進行局部搜尋與邊界延伸搜尋,以產出創意性的新產品構想。研究結果顯示,適度的局部搜尋有助於深化參與者在特定領域的知識,進而提升創意品質;然而,過度的局部搜尋則易導致認知惰性及心理飽和感,抑制創意表現。同樣地,適度的邊界延伸搜尋能增強創意的多樣性與新穎性,但過度跨越知識邊界可能引發過高的認知負荷,反而阻礙創意品質的提升。透過凸顯知識搜尋歷程中的認知限制,本研究擴展了現有關於群眾外包與創新的理論,並為優化群眾外包中的創意生成策略提供理論洞見與實務建議。

This study explores the nonlinear impacts of knowledge search intensity on idea quality within collaboration-based crowdsourcing contexts. Drawing on cognitive load theory, we conducted a quasi-experimental study involving graduate student teams tasked with generating creative product ideas through local- and boundary-spanning searches. The findings indicate that both types of knowledge searches have an inverted U-shaped relationship with idea quality. Moderate engagement in local search deepens participants’ domain- specific knowledge and enhances idea quality, whereas excessive local search intensifies cognitive fixation and reduces idea quality. Similarly, a moderate boundary-spanning search fosters idea quality; however, excessive exploration across knowledge boundaries can lead to cognitive overload, hindering idea quality. This study extends existing crowdsourcing and innovation research by highlighting the cognitive limitations inherent in knowledge search processes and providing theoretical insights and practical recommendations for optimizing idea-generation strategies in crowdsourcing.
